I wanted to enhance the load carrying capacity of my LBV by adding several extra pouches that could be moved and removed as necessary. A quick order to www.redsoldier.com provided many options and after surfing several pages of different pouches I found the extra load carrying items I sought.

DESCRIPTION

All pouches are made from heavy duty cordura and have a water resistant inner liner. Each has “alice” style attachment points and comes supplied with two metal “alice” clips. They are available in “Les” / forest camouflage pattern.

LARGE BUTTPACK

10x 10x 6 inches, it’s compartment opens with a nylon pull tab and secures by either a metal snap or a 2x 6 inch Velcro patch for a quick closure. Two rows of nylon “alice” attachment points run across the rear one along the top and the other across the bottom allowing for different positioning on LBV or web belts, etc. It has one metal drain hole located in the middle of the bottom.

RECOMENDATIONS / MODIFICATIONS

It would benefit from the addition of an extendable inner flap with a synch cord to help carry extra items as well as keep water and dirt out. Only large and medium sized items should be carried as small ones could fall out through the gap in in the cover flap.

HANDCUFF POUCH

5.5x 4x 1.2 inches, it opens by one inch long nylon pull tab and secures with one metal snap. It has no Velcro closure. There is one metal drain hole located in the very bottom. It has one row of attachment points on the rear with two slots for “alice” clips.

MISC POUCH

8x 3.5x 2 inches, it too opens by one inch long nylon pull tab but instead of a metal snap , it secures by Velcro patches 2x3horizontally on the inside of the flap and 2x4 vertically on the front of the pouch itself. This allows for a certain amount of expansion to accommodate larger items and it closes most securely.
It has two rows of attachment points on the rear, one bank for two metal “alice” clips at the top and the same at the bottom.

CARGO POUCH

7x 3x 6 inches, this pouch opens and secures by one medium sized plastic fastener. This fastener can be adjusted to accommodate larger or smaller loads and it‘s strap has an elastic band to gather slack. There are no Velcro or metal snaps. The bottom has two metal drain holes. One band of nylon “alice” attachment points runs from the left to right side across the rear allowing not only the pouch to be secured to web belt etc, but also allowing extra small pouches to be attached to it’s sides. At the middle of the rear at the top is one metal ring that can be used to attach a harness or other items.

RECOMENDATIONS / MODIFICATIONS

A small Velcro patch on the inside of the flap and pouch body would allow for quick closure in the field.

KNIFE/BAYONET POUCH

10.5x 3.5x 1.5 inches, it has a Velcro strap that is used to secure the handle of the knife/bayonet carried.
Two bands of “alice” attachment points , one at the top and one just low of center on the rear allow for multiple attachment positions. Each has two slots for metal clips. There are no drain holes.

RECOMENDATIONS / MODIFICATIONS

In order to carry a blade this pouch requires the knife or bayonet have a sheath as it is not a stand alone sheath. It is more a camouflage cover.

CONCLUSIONS

I found all the pouches described to be of high quality manufacture, durable and very useful. They add an amount of “modularity” to an LBV or web belt. While some would benefit from the modifications I mentioned (and I intend to implement) I have been pleased with my new kit items.
